Find Love, Save the Earth

Following my last week’s posting about the “green benefits” of virtual dating, I came across an interesting article in the Globe and Mail that raised a related question: “Consumers may be willing, but is the marketplace ready for them?”

In the article, the author described how the real estate industry is moving toward more environmentally-friendly products and services, such as low-flow toilets and solar panels … and even talked about how real estate agents use public transportation for home showings. One agent in Toronto was quoted saying that his “clients appreciate his green approach to real estate, and don’t mind if he takes them to see houses by public transit or just walking rather than in an expensive car.”

My First Date is an OmniDateThe article concludes: “Hopefully, soon, being green will be an everyday thing, just part of how we do things.”

If the real estate industry is going green (and so are automotive, clothing, fast food, etc. etc.), why not dating? Consumers are ready and the marketplace must keep up.

Eco-friendly products proudly display the Green symbol for consumers to recognize them as the eco-smart choice. In the dating industry, virtual dating IS the eco-friendly alternative and I would love to see profiles that display: “My first date is an OmniDate.”
