igor-pic.jpgIgor Kotlyar, Ph.D., an expert on the impact of emotions on behavior, is a founder of OmniDate, the first site to use avatars to simulate dating environments online (patent pending). OmniDate’s objective is to help singles find meaningful relationships through the use of technology. Dr. Kotlyar conceived OmniDate based on his unique knowledge of human behavior and the use of technology.

Prior to OmniDate, Kotlyar was a co-founder and CEO of Upward Motion, which developed video-based simulations for assessment of sales skills. Upward Motion’s technology helped hundreds of companies across the world recruit and evaluate competencies of prospective employees. Upward Motion was widely profiled by the media, including the Discovery Channel, for its innovation. The company was acquired in 2006.

Kotlyar received his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of Toronto. He continues to conduct research in conjunction with York University into the effects of emotions on human behavior. Dr. Kotlyar has authored and co-authored numerous articles in academic journals and trade magazines.

He currently lives in Toronto with his wife, Ravit Abelman (the family’s go-to psychologist), and their four children.
